Butterflies flutter to Botanical GardensJune 10, 2014 2:27 pm
Beautiful butterflies from around the world made Botanical Gardens their new home this month as the Butterfly House opened its doors for the first time this year.
As you wonder through the tropical glasshouse, you’ll be able to watch butterflies flutter past with elegance and observe them in all their glory.
Our new additions took centre stage at the reopening and loved the attention. They played up to their audience as they cheekily landed on their visitors, and one surprised child made a new friend as a butterfly landed on his nose!
The gardens also played host to a number of special Birds, Bees and Butterflies events last month. Our team welcomed birds of prey from the RSPB, conducted pollinator trails and gave children the opportunity to plant their own sunflowers.
Each part of our gardens was taken over by the birds, bees and butterflies theme. Our staff advised guests which plants would attract the most beautiful wildlife into their own gardens and the Pavilion Café served tasty themed treats that went down a storm.
The Butterfly House will remain open throughout the summer, during the regular Birmingham Botanical Gardens opening times of 10am – 6pm on weekdays and 10am – 7pm on weekends, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get up close and personal with our newest and most colourful residents.
