Alan King Alpine Garden

If you walk into the Alan King Alpine Garden you will find a demonstration of the many different containers, composts, rock types and mulches that can be used to grow a wide range of rock garden plants.

Paths divide the area into sections, each with a different theme. The central feature is a limestone outcrop planted with flora from a Turkish meadow including Helleborus vesicarius, Echinops ritro and Euphorbia rigida. Around are planting areas created form slate tanks, sandstone and gritstone troughs, hypertufa and recycled materials including sinks! Look out for Prunus incisa ‘Kojo-no-mai’, Lithodora zhannii, Ephedera americana var. andina and Gentiana decumbens.
