The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Visitors to the Library

The Library is situated at the rear of Plant Sales in the former Holly Bank farm buildings.  It is rather cramped and on two levels, so it has become necessary for visitors to come by appointment only.  If you would appreciate a visit, please email the Librarian (see link below) including a contact telephone number so that a mutual date and time can be agreed.

However, it may not be necessary to visit for some help in finding horticultural information.  Again, simply email your enquiry, with illustrations as necessary,  to library@birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk and the Librarian and her colleagues will do their best to help.

Resources

The Library supports the Gardens’ staff and students but is also an oasis of information and ideas for keen gardeners.  A recent specialisation is alpine horticulture but resources also include sections on general gardening; garden design; techniques; pests and diseases; garden history; in-depth monographs on specific types of plants; floras of specific countries; a good reference section; a selection of journals.
