Herbaceous Border

Herbaceous Border On the West Lawn lies the Herbaceous Border. Protected from the east wind by the Pinetum and backed by a low stone wall, the border enjoys a sheltered site in which grow plants known for their long flowering periods. Blue and red pulmonaria and purple and pink geranium flower early. Phlox, penstemon, helenium, salvia, allium, achillea, delphinium and crocosmia are just a few of the familiar summer flowering plants you will find here, Anenome huphensis and the pink ice plant Sedum spectabile favoured by butterflies, add end of season colour. Phormium provide evergreen interest throughout the year.
