Cameron Path

PhormiumTo the west of the Rhododendron Walk, this broad path is bordered by a beech hedge and the Edgbaston Archery and Lawn Tennis Club. The borders are planted with species from Australia and Africa which thrive in the southwest-facing aspect.  Australian grass Chionochloa rubra, New Zealand flax Phormium, Eucalyptus species and Schizostylis grow here. Three slender specimens of the conifer Cupressus atlantica punctuate the walk. These are part of an experiment by the Gardens for the International Conifer Conservation Programme, to see whether these trees will survive in conditions more temperate than their Moroccan homeland.
