A beginner's 4 week, largely practical, concise introduction to your digital camera and all of those menu options plus portraits, composition, flash, exposure, file handling etc. Suitable for any digital camera but you will gain most if your camera has some manual functions. Intermediate DSLR - David Rann 1pm to 3pm. This 4 week course assumes you already have some knowledge of your DSLR’s controls and instead concentrates on developing your “eye” as well as honing your technical skills, via a short practical project to be undertaken in your own time under guidance. Choose from 5 themes to produce a final body of work. You will need a DSLR for this course. Starts on Saturday 8th June and ends on Saturday 29th June. Note this course takes place in an upstairs room accessed via a spiral staircase only. Fee: £55

Portrait Photography - David Rann 10am to 3pm. Improve your portrait photographs in a day. You will learn how to light, pose and direct your subjects as well as editing, composition, lenses, and even the psychology of portraiture. Best of all, you’re able to try this all out on two experienced professional models. Any digital camera can be used but a DSLR or other camera with manual options would be ideal. Date: Saturday 27th April. Note this course takes place in an upstairs room accessed via a spiral staircase only. Fee: £60

Photography: Keeping It Simple - David Rann 10am to 3pm. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to spend a fortune to get great pictures. A great camera doesn't make a great photographer. On this one day course, you will learn how to use your digital camera (whatever it is) creatively, supplementing your existing equipment with kit you can make yourself or buy cheaply. You will even be shown how to use free/cheap editing software. Date: Saturday 25th May. Note this course takes place in an upstairs room accessed via a spiral staircase only. Fee: £60
