VACANCIES NOW IN RECEPTION AND IN OUTDOOR GARDENING - SEE BELOW Individual Volunteering Could you offer at least a half a day a week? Could you offer a minimum commitment of 6 months? Volunteers play a very important role in caring for the Gardens and we offer a very warm welcome. We currently have about 55 people coming in to different departments of the Gardens on a regular basis. Volunteers are allocated to a Departmental Manager and are supervised at all times. Volunteers are invited to coffee mornings which are currently held on the first Wednesday of the month and an annual Christmas Dinner. These opportunities provide a chance to talk to other volunteers, hear about what is happening in the Gardens and sometimes to hear from a member of staff, or visit a different part of the site. If you are interested in any of the volunteer vacancies listed below, please either:
(If you do this you will still have to post or e-mail in any supporting evidence or CV)
Reception - The Reception at the Gardens is looking for a volunteer for Monday and Friday, approximately 10.00am until 2.00pm , if you think this role might be for you please read the description and complete the General Volunteer Application above or if you would like an initial chat about the post please phone and speak to Lesley.
Corporate Volunteering Are you part of a group or business? Would you like to spend a day with your colleagues out of the office, getting your hands dirty? Perhaps our corporate volunteering days could be for you? We have a variety of manual tasks around the gardens that need to happen throughout the year to keep our visitors happy. These tasks provide a great opportunity for work colleagues to come together as a team and create a practical project in beautiful surroundings - very different to a normal day at the office! Recent groups include Npower, KPMG and Royal Bank of Scotland. All workers on site are required to wear safety boots and as a charity the Botanical Gardens regrets that it does not have the resources to supply these, so all interested organisations would be required to provide these for each employee to wear on the day.
