The Library

Did you know that the Gardens has a library at the top of the spiral staircase in the Foyer?

The Library supports the Gardens staff but is also an oasis of information and ideas for keen gardeners. Resources include sections on general gardening; garden design; techniques; pests and diseases; garden history; monographs on specific types of plants; floras of specific countries; a good reference section; a selection of journals.

Opening hours for visitors?

The Library is open on a regular basis on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10.30am to 1.30pm, when Library volunteers are available to help. Just report to Reception between these times.

But if you work or study during the week, from the beginning of March you will be able to visit by appointment on Saturdays or Sundays. You should phone Reception [0121 454 1860] leaving your name and a contact telephone number, and a Volunteer will phone you back to discuss your query and fix a mutually convenient time for your visit. Please give us at least 3 days notice - a week would be preferable.

How about access?

If you are disabled, or would find the spiral staircase difficult, do contact Reception in advance stating when you would like to visit - and we will make suitable arrangements for you.

Please note: Library resources are for reference only, but photocopying services are available (subject to copyright restrictions).

Patricia Turner, Librarian and the Library Volunteers.
