Courses and Workshops

Find a new hobby, learn a new skill and meet new friends in the tranquil surroundings of the Gardens on a leisure learning course at the Botanical Gardens. Floristry weekend workshop

How do I know what courses are on offer?

Please use the links at the bottom of the page to direct you to the current term's course information.

What do courses cost?

Costs for our daytime and evening courses vary between £60 and £90 and these courses usually last for ten weeks unless otherwise stated. Weekend workshops are priced according to the length of the course and you will find their costs by using the links at the bottom of the page to direct you to the current term's course information.

Do I need to bring any equipment with me?

Some courses do require specific equipment and you should check the current course descriptions for the requirements as requested by the course tutor.

How do I enrol for a course?

The Gardens has an on-line booking system where you can choose your course and pay for it with a credit or debit card 24 hours a day! Alternatively you can enrol in person at the Gardens' main reception desk during opening hours or over the phone on:

Pre-booking is essential as places on all courses are limited. Sorry, but we do not send out booking confirmations due to limited staff resources.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind or can no longer attend the course?

Please make certain that you really can attend a course before booking as no refunds can be given. The Gardens reserve the right to cancel any courses that do not attract enough numbers, up until a few days before the course is due to start.

Where do the courses take place?

Courses are held in the Gardens' Study Centre building. You can approach the building directly from Westbourne Road or through the Gardens during later summer opening hours. Please note there is limited parking available at the Study Centre so you may prefer to use the main Gardens' car park.

Will I be offered refreshments during my course?

Tea and coffee is provided on all-day weekend workshops by the Gardens at no extra cost to your course fee. For all other shorter courses, refreshments are offered at the discretion of the course tutor and a charge will be made. Course attendees are welcome to bring a flask or use the on-site Pavilion Tearoom.

Can I run a course at the Gardens?

If you have a proposal for a course the we would love to hear from you. Current vacancies exist for a wine tasting or languages tutor but please do send in your CV and course proposal to us in writing. You must show evidence of insurance cover where appropriate and provide a risk assessment.
