Risk Assessments and Teacher Pre-visits

Risk Assessments

The generic education risk assessment is available below, however we recommend that all visiting schools and other parties complete their own risk assessments relevant to their visiting group, as this will identify any further measures required specific to the needs of the visiting group, such as supervision ratios. Please be advised that you should bring a trained first aider with you on the day of your visit and the Gardens' accident book must be completed if you have an incident on site by a group leader, located at the main reception desk.

For information you can download this document: Gardens' Education Risk Assessment for Non-Birmingham Local Authority Schools

Teacher Pre-Visits

We strongly recommend that all teachers carry out a pre-visit, even if you have been to the Gardens before as things change. For free admission during the Gardens' opening hours seven days a week, simply bring along headed paper from your school, signed by your Head Teacher with the date of your visit, to show to the main reception desk. Please note that if you bring any guests or family members with you, they will be charged admission.

Call 0121 450 5093 if you are a teacher in a school out of the Birmingham Local Authority area and wish to make an appointment to meet the Education Officer at your pre-visit.

Call 0121 454 0784 if you are a teacher in a school within Birmingham Local Authority and wish to make an appointment to meet the Outdoor Learning Tutor at your pre-visit.
