Corylopsis sinensis var. calvescens f. veitchiana

This deciduous shrub from the eastern Himalayas can be found growing on the edge of woodlands. Its flowers form on pendant dangling flower stalks (racemes) up to 10cm in length with bell shaped, fragrant yellow flowers. The red anthers (the pollen bearing part of the flower) help to set this plant apart from the others in its species.

It requires fertile, moist soil in partial shade to perform at its best. It will only require pruning if it becomes too large for its space and this should be carried out after flowering.

Eventually this shrub can grow up to 2.5m tall by 2.5m wide.
