Visiting the Library?
The Library can be found at the rear of the Plant Sales area in one of the original Holly Bank Farm buildings. The site is rather cramped and on two levels, so will remain closed to Members and the general public till we find a way of ensuring safety for both visitors and the Library volunteers.
However, if you would like some help in finding horticultural information, please email the Librarian (see link below) and she and her colleagues will do their best to help. As lockdown measures are changed, we hope to find a way of admitting visitors.
The Library supports the Gardens’ staff and students but is also an oasis of information and ideas for keen gardeners. A recent specialisation is alpine horticulture but resources also include sections on general gardening; garden design; techniques; pests and diseases; garden history; in-depth monographs on specific types of plants; floras of specific countries; a good reference section; a selection of journals.
Please note: Library resources are for reference only, but photocopying services are available (subject to copyright restrictions). However, plans are afoot to lend to Members of the Gardens.
For further information please contact Patricia Turner, Librarian.
