The Library at Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Visiting the Library?

The Library is situated at the rear of Plant Sales in the former Holly Bank farm buildings.  But it is rather cramped and on two levels, so we are not opening to the general public on regular days, as before, till Government guidelines on Covid-19 change.

However, if you would like some help in finding horticultural information, please email library@birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk and the Librarian and her colleagues will do their best to help.  But if would appreciate a visit, please email the Librarian (see link below).  Visits must be by appointment only and under current safety guidelines, so please include a contact telephone number so that a mutual date and time can be agreed.

Resources

The Library supports the Gardens’ staff and students but is also an oasis of information and ideas for keen gardeners.  A recent specialisation is alpine horticulture but resources also include sections on general gardening; garden design; techniques; pests and diseases; garden history; in-depth monographs on specific types of plants; floras of specific countries; a good reference section; a selection of journals.
