Easter Half Term Fun

Looking for some half term activities for the kids?

Join us for some Easter Half Term Fun! Plenty of Arts and Crafts, Bug Hunting and Spring activities for the little ones!

Please note there will be a small charge for some activities

Monday 10th  Art from nature. Be inspired by the work of Scottish artist Andy Goldsworthy and join us on the main lawn to create your own work of art from found natural materials such as leaves, petals, twigs and bark. Bring a camera to photograph your work then take home a nature crown, bracelet or postcard decorated with your found objects. For older children we will also have a go at nature weaving. Meet at the white marquee just below the main lawn, the event will take place inside the marquee in bad weather.

Minibeast Hunting and  Pond Dipping between 10.30-12.00 and 1.00-3.00 in the Growing Schools Garden!

Tuesday 11th – Meet our animals! We will be giving presentations throughout the day from 10.30 until 3.00pm. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about some of the animals we keep in our Education department, chosen from; Corn Snake, Sand Boa, Giant Land Snail, Chameleon, Tenrec, Gargoyle Gecko, Bearded Dragon, Poisonous Dart Frogs and Stick Insects! Spaces are limited, with 40 per session. Tickets for animal handling can be collected at reception. There is no extra charge, but we will hand them out on a first come first served basis.

We will have fabulous face painting throughout the day – celebrate Spring in style!

Wednesday 12th – Art from nature. Make a Cresshead at the white marquee between 10.00-12.00.

At the Bandstand we will have Sonic Sarah from 12.00-3.00, with lots of fun Science activities. Make a pinhole camera and more!

Join in our Story Walks around the gardens at 10.30, 11.30, 1.00 and 2.00 – spaces are limited to 20 per session so please be on time to avoid disappointment!

EASTER SUNDAY – 16th

Bring the kids along for a day jam-packed with lots of fun and games!

Easter Egg Hunt

Start off with a special Egg hunt around our grounds -find the 10 Eggs hidden in the gardens and win a prize! Everyone who completes their Golden Ticket form will win a yummy treat!

The Chocolate Factory 

Fancy making your own scrummy treats this Easter? Then visit our Chocolate factory, where the kids can get creative with all sorts of sweets! Choose your own flavours in a build-your-own candyfloss or make your own Chocolate Kebab with our tasty collection of marshmallows, fruit, cake, brownie and (of course) chocolate!

Chocolate Workshop

Join us to learn all about the food of the Gods, Theobroma cacao, or chocolate to you and me. Venture into our tropical rainforest to spot the cocoa or ‘cacao’ tree, look for the tiny flowers and cocoa pod seeds then join our free, fun workshop session to learn about your favourite treat. At the end of the session little chocolate tasters will be available. Also, enter our competition draw for a chance to win a prize…

Outdoor Games

Need a break from chocolate? Then get stuck into our outdoor games, with giant versions of classic games such as Jenga, Snakes and Ladders, Connect Four and more!

EASTER MONDAY – 17th

Hop down to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens this Easter

Bring the Kids this Easter Monday, for even more Easter fun!

Bibbledy Bob

We will have a special visit from children’s entertainer, Bibbledy Bob! Expect music, fun and games and plenty of laughs!

Easter Bonnet Parade

Brush off your best bonnet for an Easter Bonnet parade on the Main Lawn! A prize will be given out for the most creative bonnets! The Bonnet parade will take place at 2.45pm.

Arts and Crafts

Does your head need an Easter hat? Do you want a basket for your Easter eggs? Or perhaps you want to make a bouncy Easter bunny. Family activities for children from toddlers to teens. We do not charge for these activities, but please consider making a donation on the day towards materials.

Bouncy Castle

Hop along to our bouncy castle for some extra fun!

Face Painting
