Face painting (small charge applies)

We will have fabulous face painting throughout the day – celebrate Spring in style!

Our favourite clown will be visiting, with plenty of music, games and fun!

Arts and Crafts

A drop in arts and crafts session will be taking place throughout the day. No charge applies, but donations are welcome. Make your bonnet ready for our Easter Bonnet Parade at 2.45pm

Tuesday 3rd

Meet our animals!

We will be giving presentations throughout the day from 10.30am until 3.00pm. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about some of the animals we keep in our Education department, chosen from; Corn Snake, Giant Land Snail, Panther Chameleon, Gargoyle Gecko, Bearded Dragon, Giant Chocolate Millipede, Poisonous Dart Frog and Stick Insect! Spaces are limited, with 40 per session. Tickets can be collected at reception. There is no extra charge, but we will hand them out on a first come first served basis.

Wednesday 4th

Chocolate Workshop

Join us to learn all about the food of the Gods, Theobroma cacao, or chocolate to you and me. Venture into our tropical rainforest to spot the cocoa or ‘cacao’ tree, look for the tiny flowers and cocoa pod seeds then join our free, fun workshop session to learn about your favourite treat. At the end of the session little chocolate tasters will be available. Also, enter our competition draw for a chance to win a prize…

Workshop times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.00pm, 2.00pm and 3.00pm. Tickets available to collect from reception.

Nature Crafts

Collect natural objects to make pictures. Drop in sessions between 11am – 3pm at the marquee on the right hand side of the main lawn.

Story Walks

Sessions at 11.30am, 12.45pm and 2.00pm – start at the Bandstand for a story time followed by a walk around the Gardens. Numbers limited to 20 per session. Sign up at the Bandstand from 10.30am.

Traditional musical instrument discovery 

Discover a selection of our traditional musical instruments from around the world, all made from plants! Not normally on display, this is a special opportunity for adults and children to try some percussion or even a tune. We’re by no means experts, if you know about these instruments we’d love to hear from you.

Making music

From everyday objects and recycled finds make a musical instrument to take away in our craft session for children of all ages.

Minibeast Hunting (morning)
