The Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens was formed in the ’70s by a group of enthusiastic members who were passionate about the gardens and wanted to be more involved.
The objective of the Friends is to help ensure the preservation and development of the charity by supporting fundraising events and specific projects at the Gardens. Previous events have raised money to allow the Friends to complete projects such as the refurbishment of the lily pond in the glasshouse, the restoration of the fountain and the development of the Memorial Garden.
Led by a ‘Friends’ Committee we are responsible for administering all the monies raised by the Friends. We meet at least quarterly and hold an AGM.
If you are already a Member who would like to be more involved in helping the Gardens flourish and are:
- willing to give your time to help with activities that provide additional support to the gardens.
- enjoy fundraising & helping with promotional activities
- engage with visitors to gather important feedback
we would be delighted to have you on board.
Our first project for 2020 involves working with the Gardens to produce an Urban Garden – this is an exciting project and we will be sharing more details shortly.
