Abelia x grandiflora ‘Kaleidoscope’

Plant of the month: November

Abelia x grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope'

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Kaleidoscope’ is a member of the Caprifoliaceae family and can be found by the fountain. It is a graceful shrub reaching an arching final height of 1metre (3 feet).

The small yellow variegated leaves are a little fussy for some tastes, but it looks very jolly with its scented pink/white flowers in such profusion.

As a semi-evergreen in a mild winter it will keep most of its leaves. Along with all the other Abelias it appreciates full sun and some shelter but it is not particular to soil type, it will even grow on chalk.

This plant needs no pruning, except once every four or five years when it should be cut back hard to keep it in shape and it is generally pest free.
