Rhus x pulvinata ‘Red Lace’

Plant of the month: September

Rhus x pulvinata 'Red Lace'

Rhus x pulvinata ‘Red Lace’ is a member of the Anacardiaceae family and can be found in the Bus Stop Bed.

This medium sized shrub with green or red flushed stems is a wonderful foliage plant. Its large fern-like leaves with deep incisions turn orange, red and yellow in autumn, with clusters of red fruit. We are very lucky with our specimen as it has very bright red stems which contrast well with the deep green leaves.

The ‘Sumachs’ are often seen as troublesome plants as they can sucker prolifically but this sumach is not so vigorous. They will grow in all types of soil.
