Senior Horticultural Supervisor
Birmingham Botanical Gardens are seeking to appoint a talented Senior Horticultural Supervisor to take responsibility for the maintenance and development of external garden areas at The Gardens. Reporting to our Senior Horticulturist, you will be a creative, highly skilled and experienced horticulturist, a gifted plants-person capable of the highest standards of horticultural maintenance and a skilled supervisor of staff, understanding of all aspects of the management of a garden open to the public.

Take responsibility for all operations carried out at Gardens’ Visitor Reception.
Supervise Reception Staff and Volunteers working within area of responsibility.
Assist the Marketing Manager in the provision of wider administrative support for the Chief Executive, Management Team, Staff and Volunteers.
Act as an ambassador for the Gardens and a role model for the Visitor Reception team, behaving in a way which delivers the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.

We are looking for new Trustees to help support the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Since we opened in 1832 we have relied solely on the support of visitors and donors. Such support goes towards maintaining our Victorian glasshouses, our 15-acres of wonderful gardens and into developing exciting new projects. It also means we can continue to be a valuable resource of horticultural knowledge and pass this legacy down the generations.
As a Trustee, you would play a vital role in shaping the future and the direction of the Gardens, which are a much-loved part of Birmingham’s landscape and heritage. We are looking for enthusiastic, inspiring, passionate and experienced candidates with a wide range to skills and who are happy to help deliver the core ethos of our charity. The successful candidate will assist in the responsibility and oversight on running our Charity.
We are looking for:
- A company secretary, preferably with legal or accounting skills
- A trustee with experience in quantity surveying
- A trustee with experience in the events and leisure industry
Please note, our Trustee role is an unpaid, voluntary role.
