Corporate Showcase

To highlight our beautiful event spaces, resplendent after their refurbishment, 90 guests attended a special showcase evening on the 9th of September 2014.

The Terrace Suite was laid out to showcase this year’s Christmas theme, giving guests a sneak peek at the wonders that await guests who celebrate their festive party at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Here the evening’s festivities began, in addition to red, white and prosecco wines, we offered guests a choice of delicious cocktails, a cherry Bakewell flavoured delight and a Wonderland inspired “Drink Me” creation. To accompany the drinks canapés of bang bang chicken in sesame cones; fresh tuna, avocado, carrot, basil and mint rice paper rolls; and the vegetarian choice of heritage pickled beetroot, Ragstone goat’s cheese and herb risotto cakes were served.

After the opening reception and welcome speech, guests were offered show-rounds to discover the other spaces available for hire at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The Garden Suite was laid out theatre style and cabaret for a conference, and the Loudon Suite was set for dinner with a long table, perfectly dressed with crockery, linen and candelabras.

Back at the Terrace Suite, a delicious selection of Ampersand bowl food dishes such as Roast Hereford sirloin of beef (carved in the room) creamed mash potato, truffle and herb hollandaise; roasted belly of pork with puy lentils, autumn vegetables, blush pear chutney, crackling and dried sage; crushed Brussels sprouts, pan fried chestnuts, seared salmon and herb sauce; and conchiglie pasta primavera with broad beans, fresh peas and fresh mint and basil delighted guests.

The Palm Bar dispensed drinks, and in the Terrace suite stood a dessert station brimming with treats, including white chocolate cups filled with rum chocolate mousse, rhubarb and ginger panna cotta with poached rhubarb, blackberry and elderflower fool filled brandy snaps, Christmas pudding trifle, and roasted autumn plums. There was even a selection of fruit spoons for our dairy intolerant guest. Meanwhile, for those too engrossed in their networking to browse staff were on hand to ensure that they did not miss out by serving sticky toffee pudding and custard as they chatted.

Elegant Entertainment provided background music throughout the evening and further fun could be found with our caricaturist Andy Baker or a visit from the Mad Hatter, who worked his way around the venue amusing guests and giving them a taste of what to expect from our Christmas parties. Our photographer Hart & Harvey was on hand to capture the evening with beautiful images of the event.

Happy guests left with a clear idea of what Birmingham Botanical Gardens has to offer and a goody bag consisting of a mini picnic basket filled with biscotti, truffle and macaroon. It was a wonderful night and we were delighted to have the opportunity to show off all the hard work that went into our refurbishment and the beautiful results.
