Help Us Raise Funds to Restore our Historic Bandstand

Taking a Stand Logo

We are excited to launch Taking A Stand! – our fundraising appeal to raise £75,000 towards the cost of restoring our grade II listed bandstand to its original 1874 glory.

Over the years the bandstand has been repaired, but time has taken its toll and extensive work is now required. This project will allow us to reinstate some of the features that were originally there and for the first time it will have a viewing point.

We aim to use the bandstand as an all-weather outdoor space for school groups and it will also be a platform for music and other events. We also envisage it will be a unique addition to our facilities for weddings and corporate events.

We Need Your Help

Restoring historic buildings requires specialist skill and expertise so we need your help to raise £75,000 towards this.

This project is the first step in our masterplan to protect the Gardens by updating historic and horticultural buildings, developing our award-winning education and learning centre, and conserving the unique plant collection.

Taking-a-Stand Raising Money To Save the Birmingham Botanical Gardens Band Stand

It’s vital that we safeguard this outstanding cultural asset for future generations.

Neville Chamberlain gave his first public speech as Prime Minister back in 1937 from the bandstand and we’re sure he’d be pleased to hear of our plans to safeguard it for future generations.

Work will begin on the Bandstand in September and should be completed by 2021.

This is just the first of many projects that we are planning to undertake to ensure the Gardens’ future security.
