Botanical forms – BMet Exhibition

Birmingham Botanical Gardens are pleased to host “Botanical forms’ – A showcase of artwork from Level 2 Art and design students at Matthew Boulton college (part of BMet) who embarked on a 4 month long project exploring the beauty of botanical forms.
Students were invited to visit The Botanical Gardens as part of their industry placement, and through this collaboration they produced a range of 3D botanical inspired paper sculptures; during the project they were encouraged to explore the impact that humans can have on the natural world. Embracing sustainability, they used only recycled materials and paper, reminding us all of the importance of protecting our environment.
“ It was lovely to work on the paper sculptures for the botanical gardens , I never thought I could get to see my artwork in there, but I thank them for this experience.” – Sam Parke (student)

“Working with the botanical gardens has provided our students a hands-on journey into the world of work. From collaborating with professionals, peers, and teaching staff to drawing inspiration from such beautiful surroundings, it’s been an enriching experience nurturing invaluable skills and encouraging innovation and creativity.” – Tracy Jones course leader level 1&2 Art and design
