About the City of Birmingham Brass Band

The City of Birmingham Brass Band (CBBB)  has a long history beginning during the Second World War as Fisher and Ludlow Band, later becoming Pressed Steel Fisher before being “adopted” by the city in 1976.

MD, Saphran Ali, has been with the band for just over three years – together with the Committee he “kept band’s spirits up” during the various Covid lockdowns with online rehearsals and recordings, also small groups rehearsals outside and eventually inside. Band attended the National Brass Band Finals in Cheltenham in September 2021 and in February 2022 gained 2nd place in the Regional Contest which means another visit to Cheltenham in September 2022.

Highlights in recent years have been a live performance at BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year in December 2018 and a fantastic, memorable  visit to Albert, France to perform a concert on behalf of the City of Birmingham. Birmingham is a War Godmother to Albert – so members were involved in civic ceremonies as well as the concert.

CBBB enjoys playing in and around the city also the Midlands – and beyond! Find more about the band by looking at the website – www.birminghambrass.co.uk

This is a partnership event with Big Bear Music.
