Photography Competition – Flora in Focus
Do you know how to snap snowdrops? Maybe you point your lens towards lilies. Well, now is your time to grab your camera and join us at Birmingham Botanical Gardens for our inaugural ‘Flora in Focus’ competition.
This free-to-enter special award ‘BBG Flora in Focus’ is open to everyone (adults only) and is the first IGPOTY run photo competition to be dedicated to images captured at Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG), one of the most significant botanical gardens in the UK, located in Edgbaston, two miles from Birmingham’s city centre.
Focus on the flora of the Botanical Gardens and in situ shots of plants within the Gardens.
Prizes
Selected winners will form part of an exclusive exhibition at the IGPOTY exhibition at Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) in 2023, full info here.

First prize:
- Your photograph goes on display at the IGPOTY Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) exhibition in 2023 and a signed individual certificate.
Special prizes awarded by BBG:
- 1x one year family membership to BBG plus a bespoke, private behind-the-scenes tour of the Gardens (with senior member of the Horticulture Team)
- 2 x tickets to an outdoor theatre show of your choice (held at BBG)
- £10 voucher for BBG Gift Shop & Plant Centre
- 1x copy of the book ‘An Oasis of Delight: The History of Birmingham Botanical Gardens’.
Second prize:
- Your photograph goes on display at the IGPOTY Birmingham Botanical Gardens (BBG) exhibition in 2023 and a signed individual certificate.
